Consists of California lettersheets, mostly pictorial, created approximately between the years 1850 and 1870, with the bulk dating from the 1850s. William Monroe (1818-1908) was a Wisconsin doctor who went to California during the Gold Rush, where he worked as a gold miner and physician.
